MIMM: Ugly Sweaters, Yummy Cookies and Pricey Meat

by Maria on December 23, 2013

What an extra Marvelous Monday as we’re sooo close to Christmas! This past weekend was filled with “Christmasy” things, like ugly sweaters, cookies and shopping. It’s an inevitable thing this time of year and some of the things that make it so marvelous.

Friday at work, we celebrated with ugly sweaters and a cookie swap. Here’s my marvelous ugly sweater.

Okay, so it’s not all that ugly. More tacky but you know, as per everything I do, leopard was involved. I wish I had gotten to work on it sooner (rather than the night before) because I would have had a lot more fun with it.

My coworker, Mareena took top prize. Look at this marvelous fashion statement!

Marvelous cookies everywhere! I snapped a picture of these beauties. These are Brianne’s cookies, a recipe from her grandmother. Adorable, right?

I baked chocolate cherry biscotti, using this recipe.

While I was tired on Friday night, I couldn’t turn down an invitation to some marvelous old friends’ holiday party. I met twins, Matt and Mike when I worked at Sam Goody in highschool. They were a couple years younger than me so I immediately took them under my wing as my little brothers. I’m so glad we’re still friends today. No pictures from the other night so I’m recycling this one from two years ago.

I have to admit, I almost didn’t go, because I was being…me. Tired on a Friday night, wanting to stay in and watch Say Yes to the Dress. There were so many signs that said I must go. I’m glad I was paying attention because it was a great time and I still got home at a reasonable hour!

Marvelous Saturday spent at my condo. My brothers did the painting since I can’t be trusted with a paint roller. I love that the condo complex decorated the courtyard area. It really looked marvelous with the snow, you wouldn’t even know it was in the upper 50s!

Marvelous morning workout with my gym mama. Our friend, Gene from the Darien YMCA posted this workout the other day so we gave it a go! It took us longer than 15 minutes and I felt like I was doing the V-ups forever!! Great way to start a Sunday!

A not so marvelous trip to the mall. It wasn’t long, bu I had to stop at The Gap for a last minute addition to a gift. Those 30 minutes were awful so I bought myself a little something too.

My CEO’s wife had been raving about this stuff and brought it in for me to try. It really is amazing! I’m excited to see how it helps my nails in the next few weeks. They have been looking pretty awful with all this condo stuff.

Marvelous $100 deli meat! What? Yes. My brother went to Fairway and tried this, Jamon Iberico which is essentially a Spanish style ham similar to prosciutto.

I’m not going to lie, it was pretty stinkin good. And out of curiosity, I Googled it. There is a whole website dedicated to this stuff!

Marvelous Sunday afternoon spent wrapping gifts while The Santa Claus movies played on ABC Family.

And some fun.

Have you finished Christmas shopping?

What is marvelous in your Monday?

Fairway does have a pretty marvelous deli!

My Monday is marvelous because I have the day off from work — finishing some Christmas baking, then doing… IDK! Nice to have some “unassigned time.”

Fairway is my favorite grocery store! I’ll be moving up to Fairfield so I’m sad I won’t be so close anymore. :(

Aw, you’re sweet! I wish I had more time to work on it, it would have been epic!

Those sweaters are awesome!! Ive always wanted to participate in an ugly xmas sweater party but alas, my friends are all too lame :(
And I love v-ups but mannnn those things can burn! I get to 15 and my abs start to get pretty fiery so I have to take a break!

You should make your own party! There is always next year. ;)

Jamon iberico was all the rave in Barcelona! My friend ate it everyday we were there lol! Where did you get that nail coat? I need to get it!

That meat looks amazing. I want it on a cheese plate!!! Oh yes oh yes! I’m so proud of you for taking a leap and going to that party. I’m sure you enjoyed great company and like you said, you still got home at a reasonable hour. I’m finding more and more lately that things really do all work out in the end. Especially weekend festivity related things! I totally like Maureena’s Christmas sweater. At first I didn’t see the fuzzy trim on the sleeves and hem and I actually legit was like “I’d wear that!” haha
