I’m really glad it’s Marvelous in my Monday time. Not so glad for the Monday part but I need the marvelous reminder today.
The FITATHLON had different categories: Newbies, Beginners, Challengers and Competitors. We opted for the beginners, simply because we didn’t know what to expect. The only difference were the number of reps at some of the obstacles. (Lunges, tire flips)
Despite being the first heat, there was a slow start. The staff wasn’t as organized as they should have been. However, once we got started, we were excited! There were lunges, and walls and then we headed to the speed and agility portion. You know what doesn’t go well together? Tires and wet grass. As I was jumping through, my ankle went all wacky, and then my mouth fired off a series of obscenities before I sat in the grass for a few minutes. I walked it off and got back to the course. We finished and I’m not even sure how long it took us but didn’t matter because it was still a lot of fun. It’s difficult to not have fun when you have hilarious teammates. Never a dull moment with Becky and Steve!
Once we finished up, I headed home and iced my ankle in preparation for the Greenwich Wine & Food Festival. I questioned not going but that would just be cray. I had been looking forward to this for a while and decided flats would help, even if I had to limp a bit.
I arrived just in time to catch the tail end of the Q & A with the marvelous Graham Elliot.
I won’t divulge too much as there will be a full update this week, but it was a marvelous time, especially with Kaitlin and her fiance, Jeff!
Just a few of the marvelous dishes from the day…
I wish I could have hung out a bit longer but my ankle had a different plan. I hurried home as I could not wait to ice it.
And that’s where it remained for the rest of the evening and Sunday.
With the help from some crutches, I still managed to sneak in some food prep and this marvelous mini paleo pumpkin loaf from Elana’s Pantry.
So while I felt so much less than marvelous on Sunday, thinking about all the gym time I’d be missing over the next few days, I’m using today as a reminder that it could be much worse. So I sprained an ankle. I have another, right? And the gym will be waiting for me when I’m ready and it will be that much better!
Any tips for a sprained ankle?
What’s marvelous in your Monday?
