MIMM: It’s okay to be vain at Vanity Studio

by Maria on March 4, 2013

Happy Marvelous in My Monday, friends!

My hair is marvelous today, thanks to my good friend and stylist, Shaqueen Valentine from Vanity Studio in Stamford. It’s not only true, it’s a fact. I have always struggled to find a stylist that clicked with me, that understood me…until Shaqueen. She’s always had my back, even in middle school! We go back that far.

My hair appointments usually start and end with an Instagram photo.

In the words of my friend, Patti Stanger, I have 2 non-negotiables when it comes to hair:

  1. “Porn Star” hair blow out
  2. The “Money Piece”

Shaqueen meets both of these. I win.

Imagine how psyched I was when she called and asked me to be her hair model for a segment on a local TV show, “Our Lives.” It was delayed a couple weeks due to the blizzard, but we filmed last week and the episode aired this weekend.

Shaqueen and Danelle killed it. Despite their nervous jitters prior to going on, they were both on point!

Even with some last minute adjustments in the green room, my “money piece” was rocking.

I got totally cheesy when Shaqueen referenced the “money piece.”

But we were all thankful no one referenced the “porn star” blow out.

Vanity Studio is the salon if you need color, a cut, extensions, blowouts, styles, or even a workout! They offer weekly strength training and Zumba class after hours. How cool is that?

So yes, it’s Marvelous in my Money Piece Monday!

What’s Marvelous in your Monday?

What are your non-negotiables when it comes to hair?

Girl, your hair is gorgeous! I’m envious. I used to have nice hair when I was younger but I swear I’ve lost half of it- and I’m only 23! What the hell. Haha. Trying so hard to grow it out right now. I’m really picky when it comes to people doing my hair. I’ve only found one or two stylists in my entire life that I’ve liked and trusted.

I’ve struggled for SO long with my hair! I used to dye it WAY too much and it was so over-processed and brittle. I gave it a break and while it took some time, it’s definitely healthier than its ever been. Finding a stylist you like AND that knows what they’re doing is equally difficult!

LOVE it and love the reference to the “money piece”. Such a fun name! You look so gorgeous and I love your shoes. Also, the photo of you smiling on camera is hilarious because it looks like you’re one of the people Obama pardoned (see caption on screen). Ha, how could he not pardon a cutie like you?!
