MIMM: Cait Plus Ate Does Stamvegas

What’s Marvelous in my Monday today? My blend, Cait, who came to visit me this weekend!

As you know, Cait and I are very good blends and I was so excited for her to visit Stamford, or as it’s known to locals, Stamvegas. Upon arriving, Cait gifted me my favorite things! It’s safe to say, she knows me rather well, don’t ya think?

I gave her the grand tour of my apartment which took all of 2 minutes (maybe). We got dressed and headed to Mitchell’s. Whenever I post pictures from my meals at Mitchell’s, my seafood loving friends can’t help but drool. Cait, in particular, has been requesting a date here for some time, so who am I to disappoint?

We decided to sit at the bar and after some debating, we ordered our drinks. I went with a cucumber collins while Cait chose the grapefruit basil martini.

While my drink was pretty good, Cait was not pleased with hers. I can also attest to this, since I’ve had the cocktail at Mitchell’s before. It had too much grapefruit and not enough vodka. She asked for a cucumber collins instead and even then, it was not strong enough for her palette. Therefore, she requested an extra shot of gin. She is a rebel.

We chatted per the usual and I gave the “Cait Plus Ate” look my best shot. Not quite the same, but I’m getting there.

We indulged in fresh and crusty bread while reviewing the menu. Cait chose the signature trio, which included scallops, tilapia and salmon. I was craving greens and absolutely LOVE the house salad, so I opted for freshly grilled mahi mahi on the house salad.

This totally hit the spot! The house salad comes with dates and pine nuts, which is what makes it my favorite. Such a great combination!

Cait was equally pleased with her meal and neither of us left a speck on our plates. We chatted a bit more before heading back to my place, but not without a stop at 16 Handles first! I haven’t had fro yo in a while and neither had Cait but we were both suddenly in the mood. We got them to go and went back to my place.

After getting all cozy, we sat with our fro yo and watched The Wedding Planner. I always forget how cute that movie is! Matthew McConaughey? Yes please!  We also caught a bit of Cher and Christina Aguliera in Burlesque before we were both zonked and went to bed. We actually had an early morning adventure planned.

Flywheel at Chelsea Piers in Stamford was on the agenda. I won’t get into too much detail because I want to save that recap for later this week, but in a word…AMAZING.

What better way to refuel after spin than with brunch at my favorite spot, Volta! It does get better, because Eva joined us.

Yes, I’m a shorty.

I was craving something savory so I opted for an egg white omelet with salmon, tomatoes, a side of greens and ciabetta toast.

It tasted even better than it looks! There are so many great options on their menu that no matter how often I go, I’ll never have to order the same thing… unless I want to, of course!

I was so happy to have Cait visit and even more so that she was pleased with the dinning options I had chosen. With Cait being such a foodie, I knew I had my work cut out for me! I’m looking forward to making the trip up CT to visit her stomping grounds and indulge in some delicious cocktails by her favorite bartender, Andres at Rooftop!
