HI-atus and a Re-Introduction

by Maria on March 30, 2012

Let’s just call the last week and a half a Hi-atus because, HI! Here I am! I have no one to blame but myself. I can list excuse after excuse (wedding, travel, stress, illness, etc.) but essentially it all boils down to a lack of creative juices. Those juices were spent elsewhere (like work, blah). Without those juices, my blog takes the hit.

And let’s not forget the daily distraction known as Draw Something. If you have not yet jumped on this bandwagon - don’t. Talk about addicting! However, It IS great for a laugh. Check out this gem from my co-worker, Tara.

So let’s start fresh, and let me formally re-introduce myself via the “A to Z About Me.”  It’s been circling around the blogosphere recently and I snagged it from Janetha @ Meals and Moves who was kind enough to post a template for it on her site. Check her out, she’s pretty awesome and always has the sweetest recipes.

A is for age:  27 but sometimes I feel 72. 9/9:30 bed time = CHECK!

B is for breakfast today: Egg white & spinach omelet in a wrap. It’s already in my belly or else I would have taken a pic.

C is for currently craving: After I ate my egg whites, I realized I would’ve rather had a Minty Protein Shake. Mmmm…. there is always tomorrow!

D is for dinner tonight: Getting some eats with my bff, Mary. She has some fun pictures to share with me from her honeymoon.  I’ll be picking up some healthy pizza from a place by my job called Savor. Reminder – I have to send her a link to their online menu!

E is for favorite type of exercise: Arm days are pretty much my favorite. If I do have to choose, I’ll go with tricep extensions on the TRX. I love getting that “pump” and then taking pictures of myself in the locker room mirror.

F is for an irrational fear: I don’t know if I have one at the moment but when I was growing up it was couch cushions. My two brothers that are 5 and 10 years older than me enjoyed torturing me daily. We loved the WWF (Now WWE) wrestlers so re-enacting the “fights” was only natural. They would flip me, toss me, and I typically had a blast until they discovered how deathly terrified I was of getting stuck between couch cushions. I swore that if I got my head stuck I would stop breathing and suffocate. Hey, it’s not that far fetched, but I would scream bloody murder if my head even got that close.

G is for gross food: Cottage cheese. Ick. I’m not a fan of salty foods or anything chunky. I mean, look at that crap sometime and tell me how that in any way looks appetizing.

H is for hometown: S-town, CT and for those of you unfamiliar with the local vernacular, that’s Stamford, CT.

I is for something important: Family, all day, everyday. I mean, look at these faces! That is just down right L.O.V.E going on.

J is for current favorite jam: I’m typically a rock n’ rollin’ type of chick but this song just gets me going no matter what! Flo-Rida ft. Sia  – Wild Ones. If you have not yet heard this, listen to it NOW and I guarantee you will be out of your seat dancing away!

K is for kids: They’re cute, especially the ones I’m related to.

L is for current location: My desk/cube. Shhhh!!!  It’s Friday. My creative juices are wayyy juicer when I’m here so I’m choosing to embrace it.

M is for the most recent way you spent money: M = Mega Millions. Don’t bother buying one today – I already got the winner and I’m not sharing.

N is for something you need: The weekend… STAT. And these:

O is for occupation: Get ready for some fancy shit. I am a Senior Account Director at a Social Media Technology company  with a focus on franchise companies. My days are typically crazy, never dull, not always enjoyable, but I manage to make the best of it anyway.

P is for pet peeve: I have a lot of them that are mostly related to the gym. I’ll just give you one. Ladies – when you get out of the shower, please cover yourself. No one wants to see you in the buff as you blow out your hair. Put it away.

Q is for a quote: The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it. – Rafiki (The Lion King) as previously posted here.

R is for random fact about you: I have 8 tattoos, 9 by the end of the day tomorrow.

S is for favorite healthy snack:  Apples with cinnamon and peanut butter. Simple, clean & delicious!

T is for favorite treat: Fro-Yo. My favorites are Pinkberry & 16 Handles. Mainly 16 Handles because I love being able to mix up my flavors and add toppings myself. The downside? I like fruit toppings and they tend to weigh more than traditional sprinkles, making me pay more $$. WAAAH. (I’m cheap frugal)

U is for something that makes you unique: I love going hard at the gym, listening to crazy rock music, but I also enjoy quite evenings at home – sewing.  Pillows, scarfs, garters, quilts. That’s right, I’m a crafty bitch.

Pillows I made for my tattoo artist, Jeff's room

A scarf I made for myself using the remnants of fabric from the pillows.

A garter I made for a co-worker's best friend's wedding

V is for favorite vegetable: You name it, I love it. If I had to put 1 at the top of the list, it would be asparagus, even if it makes my pee smell (you know it does.)

W is for today’s workout: After some cardio on the Elliptical (per usual) I gave Lindsay @ The Lean Green Bean’s “100 Workout {Legs}” a try. It was AWEsome!

X is for X-rays you’ve had: I’m generally a healthy person so I think the last one I had was at the dentist {cringe}. You know the ones I’m talking about where they put they mega heavy vest on you and make you clamp your teeth down on those wads of cardboard. Such a blast.

Y is for yesterday’s highlight: Buying my winning Mega Millions ticket. Duh.

Z is for your time zone: Eastern. Reppin’ that East Coast!

Well there you have it, friends. Me in a nutshell and now we’re onto the weekend!

For you…

  • Are you mad at me for not posting? Come on, let me have it.
  • What would you like to see me post about? Are you more interested in the fitness, make-up, or recipe posts? Let me know!

You rock Maria! I absolutely love your V is for veggie answer. You inspired me to do the A to Z and I might just have to quote you on that one. That answer can’t be beat ;-) Hope you don’t mind that I’ll be linking to you on my upcoming A to Z post on my blog!

Make sure you use the template from Janetha @ Meals and Moves. The V for Veggies is hard-coded in the form! LOL, I’m not that clever. ;)
